When people think about eating turkey, they usually associate it with Christmas dinner. The festive bird, with all the trimmings, is arguably one of the best parts of Christmas Day, but this tasty meat can be enjoyed all year around, especially as your leftovers. As well as being low in fat, the meat is also richer in protein than chicken.
This makes the lean meat a good choice for those looking to reduce their fat intake, so why not add it into your winter soups? Over on TikTok @sollowsfitness recently shared a recipe for a one-pot turkey and lentil soup that can do wonders for your health.
As well as being super good for you, it will also pack some more protein into your diet. The recipe is said to be "super easy" – and also doesn't take a lot of time to prepare. When it comes to the prep work, all you really have to do is cook the turkey first. Then you just toss it into the one pot and add the rest of your ingredients.
Other ingredients to add include chopped tomatoes, chicken broth, peppers, corn and a lot of spices. Once in the pot it will make a "great" tasting, super speedy soup. Here's the recipe for the easy and nutritious soup:. To make it, all you need to do is cook your turkey first, and chop all the vegetables. Then pop all the ingredients into the slow cooker, and let it simmer on a low heat for four to five hours.
