While he had no history of mental ill health, he did have a history of taking drugs, and had past convictions for possession of cocaine and cannabis and possession with intent to supply a psychoactive substance, cocaine, ketamine and MDMA.

Adejuwon Oyekan was found kneeling over 54-year-old Jason Thompson in his bed at home in Hayes, Middlesex, in July 2023.
Police were called in the early hours of July 11 after a report that Oyekan had ‘lost his mind’ and had a knife.
Oyekan, 32, had returned from a holiday in Ibiza two days before, and his family had become concerned about his behaviour after returning from the island.
