Manchester City are weighing up a sensational January swoop for Eintracht Frankfurt's sought-after forward, Omar Marmoush. Marmoush, 25, is rated as one of the most exciting players in the Bundesliga at present and is known to have admirers within the Premier League after racking up 20 goal contributions - 13 goals, seven assists - so far this term.

Liverpool have been previously credited with an interest in the Egypt international, who has already been dubbed as 'the next Mohamed Salah'. But it's the Premier League champions who are pushing to sign Marmoush this month. Pep Guardiola has already made it clear he wants Manchester City to bring in fresh blood. Another attacker is on the Catalan coach's wishlist after Julian Alvarez was sold in the summer and the £50million-rated Marmoush, who is capable of playing in a variety of different attacking positions, ticks plenty of boxes for the champions.

City's desire to strike a deal in January is outlined by The Telegraph, who confirm Marmoush has two-and-a-half years remaining on his current deal. The Bundesliga outfit would prefer to sell in the summer rather than this month, where Marmoush would likely have a slew of Europe's elite to choose his next move from.

It remains to be seen if City can persuade Frankfurt to soften that stance. But they have identified Marmoush as a player who could make an immediate impact in their team. City are expected to be active in January in a bid to refresh a squad which lost six of their nine Premier League fixtures across November and December to all but end any hope of claiming what would have been an unprecedented fifth successive title triumph.
