The proud owner of the agency that represents Manchester City January transfer target Abdukodir Khusanov says his client is ready to play for the best clubs in world football. Khusanov, a 20-year-old Uzbekistan international defender, has taken Ligue 1 by storm this season under the tutelage of Will Still at Lens and is set to net the French club mega profit following his remarkable £83,000 (€100,000) switch from Belarusian side Energetik-BUG in July 2023.
City are interested in a left-field £20million swoop for the jet-heeled centre-back while Paris Saint-Germain, Newcastle and Tottenham are also understood to be among the player's admirers. Representative Gairat Khasbiullin, owner of Football Group LLC, insists Lens will not stand in Khusanov's way of sealing a dream transfer this month and revealed all parties are on the same page.
He said: "Abdukodir is a player who has already shown that he is one of the best in his position in Europe. He is young and every day he becomes even stronger. "He deserves to play in the best clubs in Europe. We have a very good relationship with Lens and we are on the same side - we want the best for the player together If the transfer is successful, the club will receive a well-deserved reward for trusting the young player.".
Khusanov's father Khikmatjon Khoshimov was his idol as he also represented Uzbekistan at national team level and crucially, was also a central defender. City are understood to have taken information on the highly-rated talent and are well-informed on his asking price and the numbers involved in a potential deal.
