Man nearly misses flight as self-drive car keeps going in circles round parking lot A man nearly missed his flight after a malfunctioning self-driving cab decided to drive him in circles around an Arizona car park.
Mike Johns ordered a Waymo self-driving cab to take him to an airport in Scottsdale, where he was due to catch a flight to Los Angeles last week, but risked missing his plane when the car started spinning out of control.
The clip starts with a representative saying the car appears to be "experiencing some kind of routing issue", while the wheel of the self-driving taxi swings right, bringing the vehicle on a circular route around the centre of the carpark.
The video of the bizarre ride shows the man being sped around the well populated car park while he tries to speak with a Waymo representative.
Mr Johns was unable to get out of the car while it circled, and neither he nor the Waymo worker was initially able to halt it.
