Manchester United have finally confirmed Tyrell Malacia's loan move to PSV despite the UK transfer window being CLOSED. The Dutchman was linked with a move to the Eredivisie side throughout deadline day, and his switch is now official with the Dutch window still open. A club statement released late on Tuesday night read: "Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia will spend the rest of the 2024/25 season on loan with Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven.

"The 25-year-old joined the Reds in 2022 and made 39 appearances during an accomplished debut season, before a lengthy injury led to a prolonged spell on the sidelines. "After working hard to rebuild his fitness and match sharpness, Malacia returned to action earlier this campaign and the Netherlands international has played eight times under Ruben Amorim. It has been agreed that Tyrell will now link up with Peter Bosz's side in his home country for the rest of this season.

"PSV, who play their home games at Philips Stadion, are currently top of the Dutch first division by a margin of two points. They are also preparing for a Champions League play-off against Juventus, after finishing 14th in the competition's new league phase. "Notably, the PSV squad features former Premier League players Ivan Perisic and veteran striker Luuk de Jong. Everybody at United wishes Tyrell well for the rest of the season.".

Speaking after the move was made official, Malacia said: "I'm happy to be here. Finally playing good football again. I am coming off a long injury, but by now I am fit and know that my time will come again. "In every tough period there are also positive elements and in this case that is that I have become much stronger physically and mentally. I have more patience, am more mature, know my body better and things like that. I'm ready to pop and hopefully win several prizes with PSV.".

Malacia was shoved further down the Old Trafford pecking order this month with the £25m signing of Patrick Dorgu from Lecce. He is ineligible to make his debut against former side Feyenoord in midweek but his PSV bow could potentially come this weekend against Willem II. The left-back is far from the only senior member of the United squad to seal a loan move in January. Brazilian winger Antony was allowed to join Spanish side Real Betis until the end of the season.

Marcus Rashford has also moved to Aston Villa until the conclusion of the campaign but they retain an option to make the deal permanent.
