The Manchester United winger has been ruled out for “months” with ankle ligament damage suffered in training this week in a significant blow to Amorim, whose side lost 1-0 at Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday.
Speaking after the defeat, Amorim explained how Diallo suffered the ankle injury and offered a timeframe for when Leny Yoro and Christian Eriksen could return.
Asked whether Mainoo’s muscular injury is expected to keep him out of action for months rather than weeks, Amorim replied: “I don’t know, let’s see.
Amorim also reflected on United’s performance in the defeat to Spurs, which was settled by James Maddison’s first-half strike and left the Red Devils 15th in the table.
“It’s hard to know,” said Amorim, when asked when United’s 12 first-team absentees could return.
