Snooker star Mark Selby couldn't resist a witty jab at fellow player Shaun Murphy over his bold assertion of having achieved a nine-darter. In a dominating performance, Selby, 41, crushed Ali Carter 6-1 to secure his spot in the Masters quarter-finals. Selby, the world number five, brushed past world number eleven Carter with breaks of 62, 108, and 93 at the Alexandra Palace.

Despite Murphy, who was both competing and commentating at the Masters, showering him with compliments for his standout performance, Selby took the opportunity to tease Murphy for claiming he's one of the elusive few to notch up a 147 in snooker, a nine-darter in darts, and a golf hole in one.

In response to the BBC mentioning Murphy's high opinion of his performance, Leicester's 'Jester' cast a sly glance towards the commentary box and retorted: "Yeah, but he talks a lot of rubbish. He reckons he's had a nine-darter as well.". Murphy failed to instil confidence in his audacious nine-darter story. During the Onefourseven podcast, despite doubling down on his claim, he admitted: "At the end they told me to throw some darts. I haven't played darts for nearly 15 years.

"Let me just point this out there, to be clear, I never claimed to be a really good darts player, ever. I used to play socially, once or twice a week in my old pub in Manchester when I lived up there a long time ago. "I never claimed to be any good at it. But randomly one night, using a set of Phil Taylor darts which he'd sent to me as a gift, I threw nine perfect darts. I think I followed it with 26, it was ridiculous," reports the Express.
