Meghan Markle’s long awaited return to social media kickstarted the year with a flurry of excitement from royal fans, as she debuted a brand new Instagram account on January 1 - and just hours after making her first post she had already hit a major milestone.
The Duchess of Sussex, 43, delighted fans when she returned with the account titled simply @meghan, on New Year’s Day and made her very first verified post, which featured a video of the royal running across the beach to write “2025” in the sand. To make things even more poignant, it was soon revealed that it was her husband Prince Harry that had filmed the clip near their Montecito, California home.
Fans were clearly loving the return of the former Suits actress, as her follower count soon skyrocketed within a matter of hours, with Meghan effortlessly reaching the 1 million follower milestone in the first 24 hours since the account’s first post.
It is understood that the Duchess is excited about her return to the social media spotlight and hopes to use the platform as a way to reconnect with communities worldwide and share updates about what she's working on. She even hinted at a potential return in March 2024, when she created an account for her brand American Riviera Orchard, however it has yet to make any posts.
Meghan’s new Instagram account is far from her first rodeo when it comes to sharing details of her life with fans, as she previously helmed a successful lifestyle blog entitled The Tig for a number of years before stepping away from the project to focus on her relationship with Prince Harry.
