Melania Trump caused a fashionable stir when she arrived to watch her husband get sworn in as the president of the United States a second time. On Monday, 78-year-old Donald prepared to be officially announced as the 47th American president. A ceremony was held in Washington DC where the returning president was supported by his family - including 54-year-old wife Melania.
The former model arrived at the St. John’s Church for the start of the inauguration events on Monday. Wearing a dark coat designed by luxury womenswear designer Adam Lippes and a hat by award-winning designer Eric Javits, the returning First Lady drew approval from fashion fans.
Many took to social media to compliment Melania on her style choices. One wrote on X: "Melania looks so first Lady. Love it!" And another commented: "She looks stunning.". Some fans felt the model looked regal, with one writing: "Melania is channeling princess Diana." While another approving social media user typed: "Melania looking is looking so fierce today! I think she communicates so much with her wardrobe choices.".
However, others felt that the dark colour choices suggested the First Lady was dressed for a more sombre event. One wrote: "Melania looks like she's dressed for a funeral." The ceremony is a historic one as Trump stands out as a relatively unique President. He is the only politician since Grover Cleveland to enter the White House for a non-consecutive second term. Trump first won the presidency in 2016 and was in office from 2017 until 2021.
