Mikel Arteta has revealed he is only focusing on the players at his disposal but if the correct opportunity arises in the January transfer window, Arsenal will look at it. The Gunners have been widely linked to strengthening their options this month and have been persistently linked to a goalscorer. Significant injury to taslisman Bukayo Saka has also seen calls for the north London side to delve into the market to alleviate pressure on the side.

Wolves star Matheus Cunha is said to be a target for the club, but Arteta appeared to play down the suggestion of any business but an opportunistic deal in the coming weeks, following Arsenal's win over Brentford. The Gunners came from behind to secure a 3-1 victory over the Bees with goals from Gabriel Jesus, Mikel Merino and Gabriel Martinelli.

Arsenal did not see any players arrive 12 months ago but have signed the likes of Jorginho and Leandro Trossard in the winter window previously. Arteta was coy over prospects on this occasion. "At the moment it is looking after the players and get the best out of them," he said. "At the moment our focus is our players.

"I really like my players and I believe in what we have as there's a lot of quality and commitment.". “Let’s see," he added, "If there’s an opportunity we will look at it”. Players who have been doubted, stepped up against Brentford. Arteta has been impressed by recent contributions from Jesus and Martinelli.

"Very good timing! Both of them are really important," he said. "It is a big quality of our team, to share the goals. Today we have done it again, scoring in three very different ways. Great. That is what we need. The people up front have to be firing, with that feeling, and they are with that feeling right now.".
