A return to the ring could still be on the horizon for Tommy Fury, despite him recently pulling out from a fight with ex-UFC star Darren Till. After more than a year out of competition, it was announced last month that Fury would take on former UFC title challenger Till in a bout scheduled for January 18.
The slated clash was set to mark Fury's first fight since defeating KSI in a lacklustre decision in Manchester last year. Just weeks after the fight had been announced, Fury took exception to comments made by Till at a heated press conference where the 32-year-old threatened to kick Fury in the head if he was losing the bout.
Fury subsequently withdrew from the contest, writing on Instagram that he made he decision because Till would, 'resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics'. The decision proved hugely controversial in the combat sports world, and Misfits responded by keeping Till on the card against an as yet unnamed opponent.
Tommy Fury is in talks with Misfits to find a new opponent after withdrawing from a fight with Darren Till. Fury revealed he had pulled out of the clash earlier this month, citing the former UFC's stars threat to not abide by the rules of boxing as his reason.
Till is set to remain on the card, with a replacement opponent still yet to be announced. Despite the backlash, Misfits co-president Mams Taylor revealed that a replacement opponent for Fury is currently in the works. 'Tommy Fury pulled out. Tommy wanted a replacement opponent, and to be honest with you, we'll see what happens,' Taylor told Fred Talks Fighting.
