Mohamed Salah seems to have reminded Liverpool of the importance of the players who are close to the end of their contracts at Anfield, with a pointed social media post. Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all into the final six months of their deals with the Reds, meaning all three could leave onfree transfers at the end of the season.

Alexander-Arnold has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, while Salah has long been tipped for a switch to the Saudi Pro League. All three players remain first team regulars, with Salah in sensational form this season, top-scorer in the Premier League with 18 goals.

Van Dijk remains integral to Liverpool’s defence and Alexander-Arnold is still first choice at right-back, despite the emergence of Conor Bradley as competition. Salah has perhaps shown how important the three players are to the club by posting a picture of the trio from the 2-2 draw with Manchester United on Sunday.

The picture was posted on Instagram without comment, but Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk were tagged in the image. Salah’s most recent update on his future suggested that there has been no movement in contract talks and he expects to leave the club in the summer.

‘So far, yes. It’s the last six months,’ he told Sky Sports. ‘There is no progress there. We are far away from any progress. So, we just need to wait and see.’. On Liverpool’s title challenge, he said: ‘It’s my last year in the club so you want to do something special for the city.’.
