UFC superstar Conor McGregor took his work in the octagon to the football pitch, while playing for his pub's football team on Saturday. He featured in a Premier Division clash between Black Forge FC and Harding FC in the United Churches Football League (UCFL), which ended in a 1-1 draw.

The 36-year-old donned the No 11 shirt for his side, named after his pub - the Black Forge Inn - and lined up at left wing. Black Forge FC lie second in one of Irish football's many amateur league tables, having won four of their seven games so far this season.

The Irishman took a heavy touch after attempting to control a loose ball and was subsequently dispossessed. He then followed up by wrapping his arms around his opponent, standing behind him, and eventually wrestling him until he lost balance.
