THIS is the moment a drunk driver collapses out of a car in the middle of the motorway - as an exasperated cop cries "I can't get her up". The scenes follow a crash that occurred on the M1 on Thursday in South Yorkshire. The video footage released by South Yorkshire Police shows an officer trying to encourage the woman out of the car.

He first takes her wrist, before removing her feet from the footwell of the car. The driver can be heard saying "alright, give me a sec," before the worried cop replies: "No, come on, we're in the middle of the motorway.". After attempting to get up, the woman then collapses onto the road, as the cop and another man try and lift her out of the way by taking one arm each.

He then anxiously radios for backup, saying: "We're practically in a live lane here and I can't get her off the floor.". After being told to "get up", the woman says "shut up", before saying "I can't get up". Later in the video, the officer asks for a breath sample from the woman, before she is heard sobbing.

The 39-year-old woman was charged and appeared in Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Friday. She pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen for analysis. She has now been bailed and is set to appear in court again on February 17. Temporary Roads Policing Inspector Brandon Brown said: "One in six fatal collisions involves a drink driver.

"The decision to get behind the wheel after a drink can be devastating. "As experienced roads policing officers, we have sadly had to be that person that delivers the devastating news someone's loved one has died, approaching a house with Christmas lights and cheer brings a greater darkness upon you.
