A mum who gave her daughter a peck on the cheek with lip-plumping gloss on is sounding the alarm for other parents over a potential "red burn" hazard. Health care assistant Sarah Davies, 41, from Brighton, applied Too Faced Lip Injection Maximum Plump Extra Strength before heading to a kiddie spa party with her eight year old, Ava Davies Spurr. Two hours later, Sarah's innocent smooch allegedly left a startling red imprint on little Ava's face. In a panic, they rinsed off the cosmetic and dashed to the local pharmacy for Sudocrem and antihistamines. Although the reaction settled without any lasting harm, Sarah is pushing for more explicit product warnings after her scare. She recounted: "I have only used it a couple of times - it burns when you put it on. It does really work. I didn't feel any product on my lips and I kissed Ava on the cheek.

"It immediately came up red. It was like a topical burning. I saw a lip mark and realised what it was. It's common sense. I just didn't think after two hours it would still do that," reports Bristol Live. The capsicum in the lip gloss creates a burning sensation to plump the lips and does include an ingredients list in the packaging. It says not to use the product anywhere but your lips and to keep away from children. Sarah recalled: "Within a minute it was hot to the touch. She said it was burning. I wasn't sure if it was going to blister. If that was a newborn baby it could have been awful.".

Thankfully, little Ava escaped with just slight redness and is fine. Sarah's added: "I'm not the only idiot. It needs to be clearer labels. If I can do it, anyone can. I'm not going to use it again." In response Too Faced commented to say: "While most customers use this product without any issues, skin sensitivities vary from person to person, we suggest reviewing the Lip Injection Lip Gloss and its ingredients with your health care provider to determine if it's suitable for your use.".
