A young woman has revealed how she was left looking like a 'character from Monsters Inc' after suffering an extreme allergic reaction to a lipstick tattoo. Tash Evans, 21, from Manchester, sat down to have her lips tattooed on January 18 - a one-and-a-half-hour procedure that involves injecting pigment into the lips to create a semi-permanent tint. But the young woman had the shock of her life when she looked in the mirror and saw that her lips had ballooned to five times their usual size.

'I had a jump scare when I looked at myself in the mirror,' Tash said. 'They started swelling as soon as she started doing it. 'When they're numbed, they feel swollen anyway, so I didn't realise how bad it was. I didn't know my lips could go that big.'. Tash could not help but compare herself to the character Fungus from Disney Pixar film Monsters Inc. In the hit children's film, the villain is left with giant lips after being sucked into a scream extractor machine.

She added: 'My mum said how "ugly" I looked and her and my dad did the usual thing of saying I "didn't need it.". 'When my boyfriend saw me, we both burst out laughing and he shut the door on me.'. Tash Evans, 21, from Manchester, sat down to have her lips tattooed on January 18 - but claims she had an allergic reaction to the procedure. Tash is no stranger to cosmetic procedures, having first had filler put in her top lip a year ago as she felt her bottom lip was disproportionally bigger.

Thankfully, she did not suffer from an allergic reaction to the lip filler. Tash took the decision to have her lips tattooed as she believed the filler made the outline of her mouth look 'blurry'. The swelling started to subside after two days but Tash said she was forced to wear a mask when she left the house. She said: 'I've had lip filler before and had no problems. This has never happened before, but tattooing is different.

'I have a massive bottom lip and a tiny top lip, so I had filler and didn't have any regrets. 'Nobody else noticed it but I felt like my lip outline was blurry, so I wanted to get blush to even it out. 'The lady who did it said the swelling would go down by the evening, but it took about two days. 'I had to wear a mask to Asda and luckily I booked the day off work on Monday for my boyfriend's birthday.'. Speaking of the viral video, Tash said: 'People were saying it's an allergic reaction and were telling me to go to A&E but I wasn't going to do that.

'There are more important people who need A&E. 'I wasn't in pain so I can laugh. It was worth it for the laugh. I made about a million people's day. 'I'm happy with the results and colour now the swelling has gone down. 'I don't think it's the practitioner's fault. She was really nice and responded promptly to my messages.'. Lipstick tattoo, also known as semi-permanent lip makeup or lip blushing, is a cosmetic procedure that involves tattooing pigment into the lips.

A numbing cream is applied to the lips before pigment is inserted into the upper layer of skin using a handheld device with a needle. The result is a semi-permanent tint in a colour of your choosing which can last up to two years. In the UK, a full lip lush costs anywhere between £250 to £600. Cosmetologists should schedule a brief consultation where a patch test is carried out to check for allergic reactions to the pigment and anaesthetic cream.

One user said: 'Lip blush or scream extractor? I hope that goes down for you soon. It looks so sore.'. Another commented: 'Girl, please take antihistamines. It should help the swelling go down.'. Several users tried to reassure Tash, explaining that their lips looked the same after the procedure but that it was the 'best thing' they have ever done. A third added: 'Mine went huge like this. They go down I promise.
