A mum has issued a warning after her eight-year-old daughter developed a ‘red burn’ after she kissed her while wearing lip-plumping gloss. Sarah Davies, 41, from Brighton, put on the Too Faced Lip Injection Maximum Plump Extra Strength lipgloss on February 1. She took her daughter, Ava Davies Spurr, to a spa-themed birthday and two hours later forgot she was wearing the gloss and kissed her on the cheek.

Suddenly a red mark appeared on Ava’s cheek which showed a clear lip mark. Sarah washed the product off with water and immediately went to the chemist where Ava was given antihistamines and Sarah was told to apply Sudocrem to Ava’s cheek. The mum-of-one wants to see clearer warning signs about pumping glosses. Ava has been left with no lasting damage on her skin and the mark went down. Sarah recalled the moment it all unfolded and said: ‘Within a minute it was hot to the touch.

‘She said it was burning. I wasn’t sure if it was going to blister. If that was a newborn baby it could have been awful.’. Sarah said she didn’t see the warnings about dangers to children because she threw the packaging away. Sarah said: ‘It’s common sense. I just didn’t think after two hours it would still do that. ‘I’m not the only idiot. It needs to be clearer labels. If I can do it, anyone can. I’m not going to use it again.’.
