From chicken wings to coleslaw and creamy mashed potato, a cheeky Nando’s has long captured the hearts of countless Brits. Now, the popular chain, which draws on Portuguese influences, is bringing back a long-lost favourite: the beloved creamy salad dressing. The sauce was axed back in 2021, but fans have since incessantly been calling for its return – even going as far to launch a Change.org petition.

‘I’m all for adventure and trying new things, but Nando’s Creamy Dressing was the one and ultimate sauce,‘ the petition’s creator, Andrew Barber, wrote back in 2021. ‘In a topsy turvy world it was my one constant keeping me sane. ‘We’ve all lost a lot this year, don’t let us lose our sauces.’. The outrage wasn’t just limited to the petition either – there was an entire Reddit thread dedicated to it that was still being updated as little as 16 days ago, attesting to the long-suffering of Nando’s disciples.

‘My life just is not the same without the creamy salad dressing. I loved mixing the hot sauce with it and slathering my spicy rice in it. There is a hole in my heart,’ one Redditor lamented. In a tongue-in-cheek Instagram post, Nando’s has now confirmed that the dressing will be making a dramatic return on February 4 – just ahead of Valentine’s Day. Switching up Sinéad O’Connor’s cover of Nothing Compares 2 U, originally penned by Prince, the caption read: ‘creamy ballad dressing is back 04.02.25.’.

Some of the lyrics swapped out to read: ‘you go out every night and sleep all day, since we took your salad dressing away’ and ‘since it’s been gone you can do whatever you want, you can taste whatever dupe you choose.’. Naturally, Nando’s devotees were sent into a frenzy by the news. ‘All my harassing feels worth it,’ @laurennjadee_xx penned in the Instagram comments, while @tiyana.ayeesha wrote ‘we’re starting 2025 right!’.

‘Screaming crying throwing up,’ @maceyball wrote with multiple heart-eyed emojis. ‘You’ve made Valentine’s Day. I don’t even care if I get dumped,’ @kaylamidwinter joked. However, the return of the creamy dressing has reignited concerns over other discontinued Nando’s products, including the original red pepper dip and the mango and lime dressing. ‘Finally! Now for mango and lime’s return,’ @xsosoli reminded the chain, while @ryang33109 protested ‘now for the original red pepper dip please’ and @livv_wdhd ‘Saka sauce too pls’ in reference to Arsenal right winger Buyako Saka’s previous collab.
