A new Netflix thriller labelled ‘maddening and nonsensical yet gripping’ hits screens today. Based on the 2014 novel of the same name by Harlan Coben, Missing You follows on from last year’s adaptation of another of the author’s books – Fool Me Once.
This series stars Rosalina Eleazar (Slow Horses) as Kat Donovan, who more than a decade ago faced the devastating disappearance of her fiancé Josh (Top Boy’s Ashley Walters). However, when swiping profiles on a dating app one day she is shocked to see his face, with his reappearance then ‘forcing her to dive back into the mystery surrounding her father’s murder and uncover long-buried secrets from her past’.
Speaking ahead of the release, Coben said Kat has to work to uncover ‘a bigger conspiracy at work’. ‘It starts very, very small, but at the end of Episode 1, you realise this is going to be something that affects a lot of people,’ he said. Up Next. ‘But mostly it’s about the heart. It’s about that longing. Most of us have someone in our lives who we’ve dated and, in a sense, is a “what if”. And for Kat, this is the ultimate “what if”.’. Viewers have been eagerly awaiting being able to tune into the six-part series, which is now available to stream.
It its review of the show, Metro said it was an entirely bingeable series but required some patience. ‘The plot will require you to suspend all your rational facilities and comprehension of human behaviour. If you do, the sheer unbridled entertainment is worth it – I promise,’ it read.
