Zero Day has been in the works for the past couple of years and finally, the official Netflix trailer has been dropped. Political thriller Zero Day was initially given the green light by Netflix back in March 2023 with Robert De Niro fans eagerly awaiting the drama’s debut.

Former US President George Mullen (played by Robert De Niro), is tasked with heading up the Zero Day Commission, an investigation into the “catastrophic cyberattack that plunges the nation into chaos”. However, Netflix teases: “As disinformation runs rampant and the personal ambition of power brokers in technology, Wall Street, and government collide, Mullen’s unwavering search for the truth forces him to confront his own dark secrets while risking all he holds dear.”.

And as expected, the trailer, which came out on Wednesday, January 22, is gripping from the first few moments. “Three thousand, four hundred and two people died on Zero Day," Mullen’s voiceover states, followed by scenes of an office plunging into darkness, panicked crowds and smoke rising from New York City.

Segments from breaking news items described the incident as “nationwide terror” with “computer systems completely hijacked” with everyone in America getting sent the same disturbing message that reads: “This will happen again.". Mullen is then invited to the White House to speak to Madam President Mitchell (Angela Bassett) who asks him to head up a team that’s hunting down anyone involved in Zero Day.
