Depending on whether you're in the market for a single, double or king-sized mattress, prices can range from £270 to £580 and beyond. However, one savvy cleaning expert has shared a hack which means you'll "never buy a new mattress again". A cleaning guru has revealed his top tip to tackle dust and dirt on your mattress easily. And no, it won't break the bank - it will only cost you pennies to whip together.
According to the expert, known as Easy.Tips39 on TikTok, the hack is made up of a simple concoction you can put together from ingredients in your kitchen and a bit of elbow grease. To create the dirt and grime-removing mixture, you'll need a tablespoon of salt, 150ml of warm water, any washing-up liquid you like, two tablespoons of white alcohol vinegar, and a tablespoon of baking soda. In the video, the guru combines everything in a bowl which at points bubbles and fizzes as the baking soda is added to the acidic vinegar, it also changes colour into a light green once the washing-up liquid is added to it.
Then the budget-friendly mixture is spread all over the mattress which has been covered in kitchen salt, the salt is worked into the mattress using a cloth. In the video, the expert says: ''You don't need to dampen it too much - just a thin layer will do.
"As you can see, the mattress doesn't appear dirty -but when I wipe it with this cloth, folks, it will remove all that dirt we can't see." In a stark revelation about domestic hygiene, it's been shared that sitting on a mattress could trigger allergies without an obvious cause.
