A spokesperson for the BBC neither confirmed or denied such a policy, stating: "The public cares about the BBC and this year, we will launch our biggest ever public engagement exercise so audiences can help drive and shape what they want from a universal and independent BBC in the future.
Remember, you do not need to pay the TV Licence, which will go from £169.50 a year to £174.50 in April this year, if you do not watch live TV or watch any type of content through the BBC iPlayer app.
In a statement sent to the Mirror, a TV Licensing spokesperson said: "TV Licensing has a responsibility to support the collection of the licence fee by communicating with unlicensed households.
However, last month it was revealed the government is looking for ways of funding the BBC after its current Royal Charter - which is an agreement between the BBC and the Government and sets out how the corporation is funded - expires in 2027.
