In response to the announcement, the District Chamber of Trade has written to the Chancellor, the local MP and MS, the Welsh Government, the UK Government’s levelling up department, the Department for Business and Trade, and Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT) Council to highlight the challenges facing Porth’s high street following the announcement.
Last month, two New Look stores pulled their shutters down for good, with the first store in Essex going on January 24.
New Look is shutting another high street store this month as part of a string of closures already this year.
On the Bracknell closure, a New Look spokesperson said: "We would like to thank all of our colleagues and the local community for their support over the years.
We also continue to invest in our thriving online platform which has resulted in a strong online sales performance, with volumes significantly outpacing last year and an improved online margin.”.
