Newcastle 3 Aston Villa 0: Toon breeze past ten-man Villa to seal huge win in battle for Champions League spot

NEWCASTLE were rocking on Boxing Day - after being helped by an Anthony Gordon cracker. The Toon winger needed barely 80 seconds to open the scoring against Aston Villa, curling emphatically into the top corner. Jhon Duran saw red for the visitors on 32 minutes after raking his studs down Fabian Schar's back as they fell into a heap in a challenge.
And Alexander Isak took advantage of the extra man by tapping in for 2-0 on the hour mark. Joelinton then wrapped up the points with a beautiful finish in injury time, capitalising on yet another error from Aston Villa gifting possession to the Magpies.
Newcastle had three further goals ruled out plus thumped the bar on a comfortable afternoon at St James' Park. THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY..
