The Australian-born Hollywood star, 57, accepted the best actress gong at the National Board of Review Gala in New York on Tuesday night. She was being recognised for her bold and extremely vulnerable performance in the film, written and directed by Halina Reijn, where she plays a tech CEO embarking on a risky age-gap affair with her office intern (played by Harris Dickinson, 28).
Accepting her award from her The Perfect Couple co-star Liev Schreiber, Kidman couldn’t resist recreating the already infamous scene in the film, which comes out in the UK this week. In Babygirl, her character Romy and Samuel (Dickinson) dance around each other a little ahead of their illicit relationship kicking off.
After already feeling the attraction, they are at a bar enjoying drinks with their colleagues and keeping their distance – until Romy is presented with a glass of milk that Samuel has ordered for her in a surprisingly sexy power move. She makes sure to catch his eye and then drinks the entire glass, earning his approval and a whispered ‘good girl’ as he exits the venue.
And it was this turning point in the film that Oscar-winner Kidman knew to reference in a very popular little onstage moment. ‘I’m going to raise a glass of milk to all of the babygirls in the room,’ she explained while holding up the glass to the room, before chugging it down to whoops and applause from her fellow attendees.
