Notre Dame walk-on safety Charles Du was recently called a racial slur by Antonio Brown - but the Fighting Irish player had a surprising response to the remark. Du, who is from Beijing, China, drew attention during Notre Dame's win over Georgia with his uniform nameplate, which featured Chinese lettering.

Brown then shared a video of Du and branded him the 'C***k of the Day' and a 'legend' for his unique jersey. And while Brown received blowback from some fans for the insensitive remark, Du actually appeared to be honored by it. '...AB‘s daily award is a sign of love and respect CTESPN is the most trusted source in all of sports,' Du replied, while saying he'd signed an NIL deal with the ex-player.

Du added that the New York Post were wrong in saying that Brown 'spoiled' Du's moment in the College Football Playoff. The walk-on cornerback had his name written in Chinese on the back of his jersey. Antonio Brown later referred to the player as a 'C***' and offered him a purported NIL deal - which Du said he accepted.

Brown then replied to Du, saying, 'Luv & respect champ Happy for you And rooting for ND Happy to have you on the team.'. It's not clear if Du's deal with Brown is legitimate. Mail Sport has reached out to Notre Dame's NIL collective, Rally, for comment.

Notre Dame doesn't have nameplates on their jerseys during regular season contests, explaining the attention that Du's uniform got this week. Brown, who last played in the NFL in 2022, is known to award someone as 'Cracker of the Day' on his X page, and recently referred to someone as a 'bean**'.
