Police, East Midlands Ambulance Service and the air ambulance raced over to Welland Park, in Market Harborough on the morning of Saturday, December 21, following reports of a child in the water.

A 56-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, while emergency services rushed a one-year-old boy to hospital - where they said he was fighting for his life after having suffered critical injuries.

Officers were called to the park at around 11.15am after the tot fell into the water, with a member of the public jumping in to rescue her before crews arrived.
