Paul Scholes has claimed Marcus Rashford "should be banished from the dressing room" with his conduct setting the wrong example at Manchester United. The forward's future has been front and centre throughout January with a move away potentially on the cards. Rashford hasn't played for the Red Devils since mid-December and doesn't appear to be part of Ruben Amorim's plans.

The United boss has previously dropped Rashford from the line-up and cited his attitude and effort in training as a major issue. The academy graduate has been left to watch the team since then and many outsiders have criticised the way he's acted. Scholes, who once refused to play under Sir Alex Ferguson, admits he never thought about the impact his actions had on his team-mates but now believes Rashford's behaviour will be negatively impacting the fellow United players, especially the younger ones, and he should be removed from the environment.

He said on the Overlap: “I think Marcus has let a lot of people down with his attitude and I think that's what the manager is trying to say. You think of the young players coming through and think of Garnacho. "They're looking up to people like Marcus now and he's 27, he's clearly not training properly and not living his life properly. They're the examples these people should look at.".

He went on to add: "In a way, he's saying he doesn't want to be involved with the team and the fact he's letting his teammates down, he should be banished from the dressing room. If he’s in and around that and young people are seeing him him as an example, the sooner he’s gone the better.”.
