Some people are calling for Love Island to be axed after the viewer ratings hit a ‘new low’. Social media page Super TV, which brings its followers the “latest TV news, iconic pop culture highlights and opinions” shared a post on X on Monday, January 20 with information about Love Island: All Star’s ratings. It stated that Sunday’s episode was the least watched since series 1.

The caption of Super TV’s X post reads: “RATINGS! #LoveIsland has already fallen to new lows with last night being the least watched episode of the show since series 1, with just 640,000 viewers and that’s without competition from The Traitors #LoveIslandAllStars.”.

The post has garnered 510,000 views, 3,800 likes and 285 retweets. One X user said: “They need to bin this, that’s lower than a YouTube video.” Another echoed: “Let’s be honest it needs (to be) axed at this point.”. A third user added: “I stopped watching after Ekin Su’s season.” Someone replied to this comment: “Millions did! That was the last time it had any substantial viewership.”.

While different user claimed airing the show in January “seems illogical”. They added: “People are focused on starting the new year and often feel the January blues. Last thing you want to be watching is folk living it up in a villa while you're stuck in 24 hours night. Keep it to summer, everyone's happier.”.

Despite the 'low' ratings, viewership may go up as consolidated data for each episode doesn't show until seven days after it airs. On Monday night, ITVX also had its best day since the Euros final in July 2024, as Love Island: All Stars hit 3 million streams.
