Pep Guardiola has sensationally revealed that Kyle Walker wants to quit Manchester City. The England international was a notable absentee as the Premier League champions thrashed Salford City 8-0 in the FA Cup. And speaking after the final whistle, the City boss confirmed that Walker has expressed his desire to leave during the January window.

"It's not easy for me to say but Kyle is not here because two days ago he asked to explore the option to play abroad. He asked after the Treble, when Bayern wanted him, but the offer was not good enough. "For that reason, I prefer to play other players whose mind is here. Kyle went to Txiki Begiristain. Maybe I am wrong but I am pretty convinced that you should keep no-one who doesn't want to be here.

"Kyle asked to explore. It doesn't mean it's going to happen, you never know. I respect him a lot because I'm more than grateful. He has been here many years for us. "He's been important for the national team but he said 'I want to explore, in my mind and my heart I want to explore it. I don't know what's going to happen.".

The 34-year-old moved to The Etihad from Tottenham in 2017 and has since gone on to win every major club honour under Guardiola. In total, he has won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, a Champions League and four EFL Cups. For much of that time he has been a mainstay and one of the best right-backs in world football. However, in recent months his form has tailed off spectacularly, a dip which has coincided with City's worst run of form in a generation.
