Plymouth incident: Police issue 'stay away' warning amid reports of 'worrying scenes'

Members of the public were last night warned to "stay away" from part of Plymouth due to a huge police operation. Photos shared on social media show several emergency service vehicles swarm on part of West Hoe in the city. It is believed both police and paramedics were at the scene at around 11pm.
Devon and Cornwall Police's force incident manager said late last night: "We are dealing with a serious assault at the scene. Members of the public are being asked to stay away. Officers remain at the scene.". The force since confirmed officers were trying to trace a male suspect after the victim was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. One horrified witness is understood to have said: "I've seen someone being given CPR. It feels like every police officer on duty tonight in Plymouth is here." Another local said on X he saw police descend on a block of flats.

A member of staff at a pub in the area described chaotic scenes to PlymouthLive. They said there's a lot of police "just down the road" from the boozer, which remains open. South Western Ambulance Service's "incident response unit" is also at the scene, it is thought.
