The Prince of Wales beamed as he met with young people at a non-profit organisation in Merseyside today. Prince William, 42, visited Toxteth, just 30 miles away from Southport, to highlight community initiatives for young people in the region. It is understood that the royal's visit to the area, on the same day that child killer Axel Rudakubana was sentenced, is a coincidence.
However, the Prince and Princess of Wales have previously shown strong support with the community and made a poignant visit to Southport last October where they met with people who had been impacted by the horrific events of July. Rudakubana was sentenced to a minimum term of 52 years at Liverpool Crown Court today after admitting to the murders of three young girls at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class last year.
As well as privately meeting the families of the three little girls who were murdered, the couple spoke to emergency service personnel who helped at the scene of the tragedy last July. Today, William's first stop was Cycle of Life, a non-profit cycling organisation, supported by BBC Children in Need, which works to help young people from diverse backgrounds improve their physical and mental health, as well as boost their employment opportunities.
The 42-year-old smiled as he watched young people build and maintain bikes during the visit today. The Prince of Wales visited Cycle of Life, a non-profit cycling organisation, at the Kuumba Imani Millennium Centre in Toxteth today. William, dressed in a smart bottle green overshirt, brown jumper, and blue shirt, met students on the Cycle of Life scheme and observed their entrepreneurial cargo bikes in action.
