Gianluigi Donnarumma was left with a nasty injury after he was accidentally caught in the face by Wilfried Singo during Paris Saint-Germain's clash with Monaco. After coming out to challenge Singo, Donnarumma ended up taking a boot to the face as the Monaco defender attempted to reach the ball. Singo's studs left the PSG goalkeeper with multiple cuts on the side of his head and he was ultimately forced off.

Donnarumma was pictured after the game with multiple staples in his face to close the cuts. The incident occurred in the 22nd minuted and Singo avoided getting sent off, despite having already been shown a yellow card, with referee Francois Letexier deeming the clash accidental.

Despite the gruesome injury, PSG went on to win the game 4-2 thanks to goals from Desire Doue and Goncalo Ramos and a brace from Ousmane Dembele. Eliesse Ben Seghir and Breel Embolo both found the back of the net for Monaco. The win sees PSG increase their lead at the top of Ligue 1, with both Marseille and Monaco now ten points behind Luis Enrique's side. "We started the game very well, with the intention of winning and not coming here to be passive," Enrique said after the game.

"We played a great first half, with plenty of chances to score. In the second half, the game turned on its head when they equalised and took the lead. Those ten minutes could have cost us dearly. "We recovered, equalised quickly and the team continued to show the things we've been looking for since the start of last season and I'm very happy about that. Every time a player comes on, it helps the team and we improve our performances.".
