Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has called on Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho to leave Old Trafford after seeing former stars enjoy a new lease of life elsewhere. Midfielder Scott McTominay endured a tough final season at the club after finding himself in and out of the side under Erik ten Hag, but has thrived since moving to Napoli over the summer. Similarly, Jadon Sancho has been enjoying his football again at Chelsea after a much-publicised falling-out with Ten Hag.

Rashford and Garnacho remain part of United's setup for now, but could be offloaded amid indications the club are willing to listen to offers from the entire squad. Napoli and Chelsea are both keen on Garnacho, while Sancho's former club Borussia Dortmund are among those thought to be interested in a Rashford swoop.

Earlier in January, Ferdinand called on the club to speed along exits for Rashford, Tyrell Malacia and Antony. Now, though, he suggests an exit could well suit Rashford as much as it suits United. "Sancho looks a different person, not even a player, a different person at Chelsea," Ferdinand said on talkSPORT. "And Garnacho, I think some of the players, that's why I think with Rashford, I think if I'm sitting there and I'm advising now, just go.

"Because you need to actually go and look at, McTominay should be your person, you go, that is what I want to follow. He looks like he's enjoying his life, he's enjoying football again. Marcus Rashford's face doesn't, forget everything else, his face on a football pitch hasn't enjoyed football for probably three years. It looks like.
