It is understood the Spurs player knocked himself out as he hit the turf, before receiving oxygen and getting  carried off on a stretcher after eight minutes of treatment. Bentancur was sent to hospital for further checks, which are believed to have flagged up nothing  beyond a concussion.

Boss Ange Postecoglou confirmed on Friday that the midfielder would  be out “for a couple  of weeks”. SunSport understands the 27-year-old cannot  play for 12 days due to concussion protocols. Bentancur was concussed earlier in the  season and missed one game in August.

But this time he will miss Sunday’s FA Cup trip to Tamworth, Wednesday’s North London derby at Arsenal and the following Sunday’s visit to Everton. On  Bentancur’s fitness, Postecoglou replied: “He’s back home and he’s fine. “Thankfully, it looks like a concussion and nothing more than that.”.

Meanwhile, Spurs are being linked with the chase for Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani. The 27-cap Frenchman is also reportedly interesting Manchester United. AC Milan are also said to be keen - but Juventus are rated the favourites to land the 26-year-old.
