Rory McIlroy beamed as he received a congratulatory call from his wife and daughter after his heroics at AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am - as he started his 2025 PGA Tour campaign with an impressive tournament win. The Northern Irishman capped off an impressive showing at the iconic Californian venue, which started with a hole-in-one in the opening round, as he took the 27th PGA Tour title of his career. The four-time major championships victor carded a 66 in the final round to finish 21-under-par as he earned the spoils.

The 35-year-old edged out compatriot Shane Lowry by two shots, with the Irish contingent having stolen the show during an impressive week for the pair in Carmel. Following on from his triumph, McIlroy's pride was plain to see as he enjoyed an impromptu Facetime call with his loved ones. A clip on the official PGA Tour page on X showed the County Down superstar taking a call from wife Erica Stoll and their daughter Poppy, with the caption: "Rory had an important call to take after winning the@ATTProAm," with Poppy heard saying: "I love you, mwah, congratulations, Papa.".

Later reflecting on a momentous week after getting his PGA Tour season off to a winning start, McIlroy's joy was clear as he looked back over an enjoyable experience at Pebble Beach. He said: "Yeah, I think, look, coming to the last hole at Pebble with a three-shot lead and being able to enjoy it somewhat was really cool. It's been a great week for a lot of different reasons, hole-in-one, playing Cypress for the first time, obviously getting a win.

"Yeah, it's been -- yeah, it's been a really cool week. Obviously couldn't wish for a better start for my PGA TOUR season. I've been on a nice run of form since last fall. I've played some really good golf and continued that into this year. Yeah, just obviously, as I said, just a great way to start the year.". McIlroy now has 27 PGA Tour victories to his name, with only six golfers including Tiger Woods and Phil Mickleson having won more. On reaching this milestone, he said:"Yeah, no, getting to that number is really cool. I think for me it's even more meaningful that I don't really play a full, full schedule on the PGA TOUR either. I spend my time between here and the DP World Tour.".

"Yeah, I think I'm up over 40 or 40 worldwide wins, which is a pretty cool number. Yeah, absolutely, 27 is a cool number on the PGA TOUR. Hopefully I keep adding to that and break a 30 barrier at some point this year and keep going from there.". The Northern Irishman also asserted that he made a conscious effort to enjoy himself at Pebble Beach this year, telling CBS: "Some people would argue the golf courses I have won on are not up to a Pebble Beach or an Augusta, but to win at one of the cathedrals of golf is really, really cool.
