Boxing legend Roy Jones Jr has hit back at claims he's Jake Paul's next opponent by issuing a brutal statement. After making his professional debut back in 2020, 'The Problem Child' has taken the world of boxing by storm. With a professional record of 11-1, the young American has already defeated the likes of Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren and Nate Diaz. His only defeat inside the squared-circle came on points against Tommy Fury back in 2023.
The young American was last seen in the ring back in November, defeating former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson via unanimous decision. Following the showdown against 'Iron Mike' many within the boxing and MMA community have been quick to throw their hat in the ring to face Paul next.
At 55, Jones Jr - a former four-weight champion - remains fairly active inside the sport. The boxing veteran took on Tyson back in 2020 in what was a dull and uninspiring boxing exhibition bout. He did, however, face former UFC lightweight king Anthony Pettis in a professional setting in 2023, losing via majority decision.
Jones Jr, who turns 56 this month, has now sensationally been rumoured to take on Paul inside the ring next. That said, while he's open to the fight, no official offer has yet been made. He posted in a statement on Instagram: "This post has cost me many of restless nights due to people wondering.
"LISTEN……… I love what Jake has done for our sport. I also love the time and effort that he’s put forth to develop his craft. Being that I was Mikes last opponent before the big exhibition that they put on, I do feel like I’d probably be the most noteworthy opponent at this point. HOWEVER………. I have not been contacted about any of these allegations so it is NOT A REALITY at this point in time. For the record- just like in my prime, I’m always JUST A CALL away.".
