Ruben Amorim told to make Man Utd captaincy change amid Bruno Fernandes concerns

Ruben Amorim has been urged to restore Harry Maguire to the captaincy as his Manchester United reign continues to falter. The Red Devils have lost their last four games in all competitions, conceding 11 goals in the process. One of those defeats was to struggling Wolves, during which skipper Bruno Fernandes was sent off after picking up two yellow cards.
It was the third time the midfielder has picked up a red card this season and has led to fresh scrutiny on his position as captain. Lisandro Martinez was handed the armband for the defeat to Newcastle in Fernandes' absence. But former skipper Maguire was also in the line-up and Amorim has now been told to give the Englishman a second chance. Amorim has confirmed the 12-month extension clause in the defender's contract will be activated.
That news has led to former United star Patrice Evra to call for Maguire to be restored to the captaincy. The Fenchman said: "Give him the armband back!!!! After all he been through showing resilience and leadership.". Maguire was made captain in 2019 and held the role for four years before being stripped of the job by Erik ten Hag. His current deal expires at the end of the season, but Amorim has confirmed he will be staying at Old Trafford.
" Harry Maguire we’re going to trigger our option. I spoke with him this morning and I told him he has to improve his game on the pitch. We need him a lot and also he needs to improve as a leader," he said. HAVE YOUR SAY! Should Ruben Amorim strip Bruno Fernandes of the captaincy? Comment below.
