Ruben Amorin sounds Amad Diallo warning after Man Utd star’s hat-trick heroics

Ruben Amorim issued a note of caution after Amad Diallo scored a late hat-trick to rescue victory from the jaws of defeat for Manchester United against Southampton. After encouraging performances against Arsenal and Liverpool in recent weeks, United appeared destined for an embarrassing defeat against the Premier League’s bottom side at Old Trafford last night.
Amorim had warned a home game against the Saints would prove a more accurate indicator of whether his side had made as much progress as had been claimed in the aftermath of a smash and grab raid at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday and so it proved. United were fortunate to only be trailing by a single goal heading into the closing stages before their new talisman equalised with eight minutes remaining.
The Ivory Coast winger sent the home supporters into raptures in injury time when he latched onto Cristian Eriksen’s clipped pass and poked the ball beyond Aaron Ramsdale, before a another opportunistic strike sealed three points. Rather than lavish Amad with praise after the game, Amorim instead urged fans not to get too carried away with the former Atalanta star’s form and warned the player to take the adulation that will come his way in his stride.
‘The important thing is to win and he helped us and then he is doing a very good season,’ Amorim said of Diallo. ‘But you have to be careful with the young kids. Congratulations to him, enjoy tonight and he needs to appreciate these moments. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video.
