Ruud van Nistelrooy has hinted at potential business with Manchester United - with a number of stars already linked with moves. The former Red Devils icon and interim boss is currently in charge of struggling Leicester. He has won just one out of his six games so far, with the Midlands side having fallen into the relegation zone.
And it’s clear that the Foxes need signings as they attempt to retain their Premier League position. And Van Nistelrooy has revealed that he could turn to his former club for some assistance in the market. Speaking ahead of this weekend’s clash with Aston Villa, he said: “Of course, I am looking at my network, having played in a couple of countries and more clubs. It’s important to use my network in opportunities to strengthen the squad. We’re looking at all possibilities to help the team reach its target. We’re looking everywhere.”.
Asked how crucial signings could be, he added: “It’s important. If we think there are opportunities in the market that can strengthen our squad, then it's a massive thing to do if we get players who can help this team survive in the Premier League. It has to be right. Let’s see what opportunities will come by.”.
A number of United stars have already been linked with moves to the Midlands. Defender Victor Lindelof was reportedly a target, while youngsters Toby Collyer and Harry Amass are also apparently under consideration. While United could choose to help out Van Nistelrooy, any deals with Leicester chiefs could be a huge boost. Boss Ruben Amorim has already confirmed players need to leave before he can bring any in.
