Sainsbury's shoppers with a Nectar card are being offered the chance to claim £250 back on home improvements. The supermarket giant, which runs its own energy brand, Sainsbury's Energy, in partnership with E.ON, is offering customers the incentive to encourage home upgrades with a focus on slashing bills and improving energy efficiency. The deal also gives customers £200 off the installation cost of solar panels provided by E.ON, as well as a further £50 off an EV charger for those wanting a comprehensive green upgrade.
This means customers have the opportunity to receive up to £250 towards making their homes more energy efficient, and in turn save on further costs for the future - but you'll need a Nectar card to take advantage of the offer. Commenting on the initiative, Sainsbury's said: 'We know many of you are already taking steps to reduce your energy bills and carbon footprint, but there are some big leaps you can make that could have a long-term impact.
'We are here to help you invest in your future with exclusive savings. As a Sainsbury’s Energy customer you can enjoy exclusive discounts on home energy upgrades through E.ON. 'Get up to £200 off solar panels & batteries. Plus, save £50 on an EV charger for your home.'. According to Sainsbury's Energy, the installation of solar panels can save households up to £713 each year on electricity bills, while allowing households to take control of their energy by producing personal power, reports The Express.

However, these perks are limited exclusively to Nectar card holders, with loyalty customers able to reap the benefits of boosting their points with every energy bill paid.
Nectar holders who switch to Sainsbury's Energy can immediately begin earning extra points on their energy bills. For every £1 spent, customers will rack up points that can be redeemed at Sainsbury's or at other Nectar partners such as Argos, Caffe Nero, Sky and British Airways. Sainsbury’s Energy said: 'By switching to us, you'll not only benefit from our competitive energy tariffs but also earn valuable Nectar points on your bills.
'These points add up to real savings on future shopping, so you can enjoy more from your essentials. They added: 'It's a fantastic way to save money and boost your Nectar points balance, whether you're an existing Sainsbury's shopper or new to the Nectar family. 'With Sainsbury's Energy, you’re getting more than just a great energy tariff. You’re also boosting your Nectar points balance with every bill.'.
It comes as Sainsbury's shoppers who hold a Nectar card has been issued a warning - as a study showed they could be paying £615 more a year compared with a budget supermarket. The deal gives customers £200 off the cost of solar panels provided by E.ON, as well as a further £50 off an EV charger for those wanting a comprehensive green upgrade (stock image). A study from consumer group Which? found that shoppers who subscribe to the Nectar loyalty card scheme, which offers cheaper prices on some items, are still paying more for some items than if they shopped at Aldi, which was found to be the cheapest UK supermarket of 2024 in the same study.
The study compared the cost of groceries at the UK's biggest supermarkets every day throughout 2024 to determine how each chain compared in price. In order to assess how supermarkets compared in terms of price, the consumer watchdog analysed the cost of up to 200 branded and own-brand products every day over the course of a month - from Heinz beans to own-label milk. The average costs were tallied up to reach a grand total for each retailer - which included special offers and loyalty prices where applicable.
