According to Variety, the show, written by Nora Zuckerman and Lilla Zuckerman, is said to focus on a new slayer, with Sarah returning to the role in a recurring part rather than series lead.
A sequel series of the iconic show is nearing a pilot order at Hulu, with Sarah said to be in final talks to play the titular character in the currently untitled project.
The Hollywood actress, 47, played sassy slayer, Buffy Summers, from 1997 to 2003 in the smash-hit series, which was loved by fans around the world.
Meanwhile, Sarah recently revealed that she got in "a little bit of trouble" for sharing a snap from the upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel.
