The Saudi Minister of Sport has spoken publicly about wanting to sign Mohamed Salah as the kingdom pushes on with its bid to sign the the Liverpool star. The Egyptian has seen his contract wind down and there is yet to be an agreement which will see him extend his stay at Anfield. Al-Hilal have emerged as the leading contender to land Salah, who continues to excel at Anfield. Salah has been willing to speak openly about his situation at the Reds, claiming he was "more out than in" several weeks ago and has since added: “There’s nothing, we’re far away from any progress, so we just need to wait and see.”.

A move to Saudi Arabia has long been tipped with Liverpool previously rejecting a huge offer. But they continue to push in their quest and the league are ready to return with a fresh offer. Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal hopes the Liverpool icon will leave the Premier League and follow in Cristiano Ronaldo’s footsteps, insisting it would be a "privilege" to see him in the Middle East. He told Piers Morgan Uncensored: “He's the most high profile Muslim player in the world. He's arguably one of the best two or three players in the world. He hasn't signed a new contract yet. Is he? Is he the big prize?”.

He then added: “Well, definitely, because if he ticks all the right boxes, even for us, we'd love to have him. He's, you know, he's Egyptian, and we have a very good relationship, and we feel like we are one with the Egyptians as well, from our culture and our history and so on. "So to have Mo Salah or other players that are good role models would be, you know, a pleasure and a privilege to have in the Saudi League. Will it happen or not? That's up to the clubs to decide and to see what negotiations go on.".

Major names have continued to move to Saudi Arabia but Salah would be the league's biggest coup since Al Nassr managed to lure Ronaldo after his Manchester exit. The Egyptian is currently leading the Premier League Golden Boot race and has broken more records this season. Al-Hilal have a spot in their squad after they terminated Neymar's deal. The Brazilian moved to the Middle East for big money but was constantly injured and his exit has freed up space to land Salah, the man they want most of all.
