School placed in lockdown after three teachers 'attacked by ex-pupil' A school in South Wales was placed into lockdown on Tuesday after three teachers were allegedly assaulted by a former pupil.
Newport High School confirmed no weapons were used during the incident but school staff instigated emergency procedures to keep pupils safe.
Gwent Police said in a statement that it received a report an ex-pupil had allegedly caused damage to school property and cars and assaulted three teachers.
A spokesperson for Newport High School said the incident was "extremely upsetting for both staff and pupils".
"We take school safety very seriously and have a range of measures in place, but a review is being carried out to see if any further precautions could be taken," they added.
