Scottie Scheffler schedules PGA Tour return following surgery on freak hand injury Scottie Scheffler is set to make a comeback on the PGA Tour next week after a bizarre Christmas Day injury necessitated hand surgery.
Despite a slightly longer healing process than expected, which saw him sit out the Sony Open, American Express, Farmers Insurance Open, and The Sentry the PGA Tour's inaugural marquee event of the season Scheffler insisted this week that he didn't want to "rush back just to rush back.".
The world No.1 suffered a cut on his right hand while making dinner at home with his wife, Meredith, and their baby son, Bennett, which led to him missing the season's first four events.
"On Christmas Day while preparing dinner, Scottie sustained a puncture wound to the palm of his right hand from a broken glass.
Small glass fragments remained in the palm which required surgery," said Scheffler's manager Blake Smith in a statement last month.
