Sean Dyche claims he will still be proud if Everton’s new American owners do not offer him a new deal and he leaves in the summer. Dyche’s contract expires in July and The Friedkin Group (TFG) have told him they back him for now. He received their support when he met Everton’s new executive chairman Marc Watts yesterday and everyone is focused on keeping the Blues up ahead of their move to their new Bramley Moore Dock home.

Dyche does not know what his future is beyond this summer and he insists he is proud of how he has kept the club in the Premier League while slashing costs. “It’s a strange situation here because on the one hand, you’re not winning as many games and everyone is saying ‘why aren’t you winning more games?’,” said the Blues boss.

“On the other hand, you’re looking at the bigger picture and going ‘Yeah, I’m very proud of my part, although it’s not just me, but I’m very proud of that. That’ll never change regardless of what my future is here, that will never change.

“People will never, ever know what it feels like to be here, dealing with what this club has been going through and still trying to manage it, make it successful, or have relative success, trying to win games. “But like I say, the bigger picture of football is very rarely judged. The judging bit is every weekend or every during the week. When the next game comes, that’s the judgment day.”.

Members of TFG will be at Sunday’s match against in-form Chelsea at Goodison Park and Dyche knows following his meeting with Watts that he needs to win matches to carry on in the dug-out. “He made it clear, other than the obvious challenge of all managers winning games, they are fully supportive of me, the staff, the team going forwards,” he said.
