BBC RADIO 2 DJ Richie Anderson has confirmed that they're leaving the Breakfast show - on the same day as Zoe Ball's exit. The popular early morning show is saying goodbye to Zoe today, with the long-time host sharing an emotional farewell. Now Richie Anderson has also confirmed he will be leaving, saying it's been an "amazing six years" but it's time to move on.
He said on air: "I have had the most amazing six years on this show. It has been so much fun, and I have loved every single second of it. “It has been so amazing to come here and be accepted by you (Zoe), Tina (Daheley) and the producers.". He also heaped praise on lead host Zoe, telling her: “I remember when I met Zoe for the first time in the dressing room at It Takes Two, she came in with hugs and it was like I'd known you forever and you have been the most amazing friend.”.
However, he won't be going far, with the star instead taking up the position in the afternoons. The station's radio show added: "From January, Richie Anderson will be waving goodbye to the early alarm call as he moves to afternoons on Radio 2.". The two exits mark a major change for the Breakfast Show, with Zoe leaving the broadcaster in order to spend more time with family.
Scott Mills has been confirmed to be replacing Zoe, and as she hosted her last show he posted a tribute to her as he prepares to fill in her shoes. Posting a photo of them together on Instagram, Scott said: "You’ve been the voice so many of us have woken up to for so long. It feels like losing a mate.
