A joint Statement from the Premier League, the FA and PGMOL said: “Video Assistant Referees [VAR] will be active across all eight ties in the fifth round of this season’s FA Cup.
Semi-automated offside technology will be trialled in the fifth round of the FA Cup, with a view to it introduced in the Premier League before the end of the season.
The FA has agreed to use the new technology in seven of the eight fifth-round ties that take place at Premier League grounds.
Following successful live operation in the FA Cup, the Premier League will look to implement the system later this season.
