Darts star Stephen Bunting would love to laud the World Darts Championship trophy over Manchester United when they make the trip to Anfield in their next match. The Bullet reached the quarter-finals of the tournament following a dominant 4-0 victory over Luke Woodhouse. The eighth seed has also dispatched Germany's Kai Gotthardt and Latvia's Madars Razma and is firm favourite of the Ally Pally crowd.

Bunting has one eye on the top prize in darts, and with the competition's finale coming on Friday January 3, it could offer the Liverpool fan a unique opportunity. The Reds face Manchester United two days later and the Fazakerley-born star would relish the opportunity to take his trophy to the game.

After claiming victory at the British Darts Corporation (BDO) World Championships in 2014, Liverpool invited the relative unknown to show off his trophy to the Anfield crowd. The 39-year-old would love to repeat that with the sport's biggest trophy and could yet even be required to beat United fan Luke Littler to do so in the semi-finals.

"It would be fantastic," said Bunting. "It would be made even more fantastic because we play Man United. That would be unbelievable to shove that trophy down their throat as well. "No, listen, it would be a dream come true. At the end of the day, it's difficult, I've got so many games left to play and I would be stupid to think about the title now. I've still got Peter Wright to play in the next round. I'm fully focused on that game and then I've got another game after that and another game after that.
